Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your healthcare will cost.

Under the No Surprises Act, healthcare providers are required to provide clients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance to pay for services with an estimate of the expected cost of care, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of non-emergency healthcare services. You may also ask for a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may be able to dispute the bill.

For more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services at cms.gov/nosurprises.
